In honour of the legacy of Professor David Penington AC, the 2025 Oration promises a compelling reflection by His Honour Anthony Parsons who has spent 40 years at the intersection of the law and community including as the Managing Director of Legal Aid Victoria and as Australia’s first Supervising Drug Court Magistrate.

Orator | His Honour Anthony Parsons

His Honour Anthony (Tony) Parsons is a former magistrate and lawyer who has spent nearly four decades working at the intersection of the law and our community. Tony served as a magistrate for 15 years, including nine years as Principal Magistrate of the Dandenong and later the Melbourne Drug Courts. Prior to his judicial appointment, Tony was the Managing Director of Victoria Legal Aid for close to a decade. Tony is a respected voice in public discussions on drugs and the law.

Kathryn Greiner

Occasional remarks | Ms Kathryn Greiner AO

Kathryn Greiner AO recently concluded her term as Chair of the Penington Institute Board of Directors. Throughout her esteemed career, she has contributed in a wide range of leadership positions in public and private companies, government bodies and non-profit organisations. She was an elected Councillor to the City of Sydney Council from 1995 until 2004. Kathryn currently chairs an investment fund, Bio Tech Capital and Loreto Kirribilli School Council. She has recently completed the Review of Funding for Schooling on behalf of the Australian Government and her term as Chair of Australian Hearing. In 2012 she was appointed as the Chair of the NSW Ministerial Advisory Committee on Ageing.
