This year, we are honoured to be joined by Dr Hester Wilson, Chair of the RACGP Addiction Special Interest Group, who will deliver a special address on the crucial role of general practitioners in overdose prevention and response.

The webinar will also feature a presentation on key findings from the report, followed by a Q&A discussion to delve deeper into the report’s implications.

Meet our panelists

Dr Hester Wilson

Dr Hester Wilson is the Chief Addiction Specialist for NSW Health, Clinical Director for Murrumbidgee Drug and Alcohol, and a GP in private practice in Sydney. She is chair of the RACGP Addiction Special Interest Group, a clinician with many years clinical and teaching experience and is currently undertaking a PhD focused on GPs’ experience of patients with chronic pain and prescription opioid dependence.

Dr Jake Dizard 

Dr Jake Dizard is Director of Research at Penington Institute. Jake’s current areas of focus include cannabis policy, global drug policy, and overdose prevention and response. His work on drug policy is informed by a background in human rights and political science. During his nearly two decades in NGOs and academia, he has sought to produce clear analysis that can contribute to both policy reforms and community-based advocacy for systems change.
